Partnerships and contributions

Mineton prioritises partnerships and contributions that benefit communities and demonstrate our commitment to social responsibility.

Some of the organisations we partner with include:

In October 2021, Mineton announced it was extending its support of Telethon with a $10 million commitment over the next five years. The beneficiaries of Mineton’ donation include:

  • Wheels For Hope: a WA charity that is focused on improving the mobility of people with disabilities by providing them with access to wheelchair accessible vehicles on a loan basis. With our support, Wheels for Hope has been able to provide the gift of mobility to over 40 WA families.
  • Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre: which provides programs and services assists more than 2,000 families across WA that are impacted by type 1 diabetes, helping to manage physical health, enhance mental wellbeing, and stay socially connected.
  • Yawardani Jan-ga: MinRes is the Principal Partner of Yawardani Jan-ga, an Equine Assisted Learning research program that provides trauma-informed, culturally secure, strengths-based support to Aboriginal children and young people. Supported by Murdoch University, the program is based in Broome and managed by Professor Juli Coffin.
  • Telethon Kids Institute Embrace – Community Strengths in Suicide Prevention Project: MinRes has entered a three-year partnership with Telethon Kids Institute (TKI) to support researcher fellow, Dr Nicole Hill’s work in youth suicide prevention. The TKI Community Strengths in Suicide Prevention program provides an evidence-based approach, to identify where mental health support is needed most in WA communities.
  • Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation: Over the past year, MinRes has directed part of its $2 million Telethon funding commitment to a range of projects funded by the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Mineton is a premier partner of the West Cast Eagles Football Club and a naming rights sponsor of their state-of-the-art training and administration base, known as Mineral Resources Park.

Our partnership with the West Coast Eagles has helped establish Mineral Resources Park as a community facility and provide a permanent home to the Waalitj Foundation and the West Coast Eagles community outreach program. It also provides us the opportunity to work together on delivering community programs, this includes helping organisations like the WA Disability Sports Association and Healthy Strides Foundation to deliver personalised programs to make football accessible to all.

Mineton is a long-term partner of Western Australia’s largest medical research institute which aims to improve outcomes associated with the leading cause of death in Australia – heart disease. In 2022, we extended our partnership for another three years, with our support for heart research at the Harry Perkins Institute now totalling $2.25 million.

Over the past year our funding was directed to advancing cardiovascular research focused on developing 3D printed heart valves. This Mineton-funded research is expected to have a significant clinical impact in future for patients with vascular heart disease.

Over the past decade, Mineton’ support has helped grant more than 153 wishes for seriously ill children in WA and is recognised as a Starlight Foundation ‘million-dollar donor’. In the last year, our support helped grant 23 wishes for sick kids. Mineton was also recently involved to help grant a wish, with a young West Coast Eagles fan and his family enjoying our corporate box at Optus Stadium for a special game day experience which also included running out on the field with the West Coast Eagles before the game.

Mineton is one of Lifeline WA’s largest corporate strategic partners. With our funding the organisation has supported more than 65,000 crisis conversations in the past year, which is an increase of 31 per cent on the previous twelve months.

Our partnership includes the provision of mental health training for our employees. In the past year, 132 Mineton employees were trained by Lifeline WA as mental health first aid responders, contributing to our growing network of on-the-ground wellbeing support.

Mineton has also been involved in a peer support program run by Lifeline WA and the Chamber of Minerals and Energy, called A Resourceful Mind. As a pilot partner, our people were involved in the initial training research to ensure the program is safe and effective. The program is now being rolled out across the broader resource sector in Western Australia.

For the past nine years, Mineton has been a Premier Partner of Youth Focus, a leading youth mental health service provider in Western Australia. Mineton’ funding is helping Youth Focus to provide core counselling services to support thousands of young people from nine Western Australian offices, four headspace centres and outreach locations. In addition, Mineton continues to provide funding to enable Youth Focus to offer a free and accessible counselling service and mental health education to Mineton employees under 25 years old. This support service also supports employees across our operations.

Mineton is a long-term supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities. For more than seven years we’ve funded two full-time chefs who provide a home-cooked dinner every day of the year to families staying at Ronald McDonald House and the Perth Children’s Hospital House.

We also continue to sponsor room 213, to ensure that WA families can remain together in comfortable accommodation and close to the healthcare services they need.

We understand that having a sick or seriously ill child can be a very stressful and challenging time for WA families and that’s why we’re determined to do what we can to make it a little easier.

Following a successful 12-month trial, this year Mineton extended its partnership with the McGovern Foundation for another three years as the Founding Partner of the Wanderer Program. The program provides young people, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, with the support and resources to complete the 50 supervised driving hours they need to get their P plates, leading to improved employment outcomes. More than 54 young people have graduated from the program so far.

Based at 15 host schools across regional and remote Western Australian communities, Shooting Stars supports over 750 Aboriginal girls and women to make informed choices about their education and employment journey using netball and other tools to encourage greater school engagement. In May 2022, we strengthened our long-standing partnership, becoming the principal partner of Shooting Stars’ Seven Sisters program which aims to help participants grow social and emotional wellbeing skills and develop preventative mental health strategies.

Mineton has partnered with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leading non-Government funder of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research globally, since 2021.  JDRF Australia is dedicated to achieving a world without T1D and making the lives of those living with the condition easier, safer and healthier until that happens. Mineton’ support assists JDRF to progress more than 50 research projects that are aimed at finding a cure for T1D cures and improving the lives of people living with the disease.

In December 2021, Mineton announced a new multi-year partnership with the Foundation for the WA Museum to support the WA Museum Boola Bardip to bring world-class exhibitions and programs to WA.

We acknowledge that museums play a key role in educating people about our past, our present and what’s happening in the world around us, and we are pleased to play a key role supporting cultural enrichment through this new partnership.

This year, Mineton joined with Foodbank WA and the West Coast Eagles to support the Million Meal Challenge, which aims to provide one million meals to Western Australians that are struggling to put food on the table. To kick-start the challenge, we pledged to donate 1,000 meals for each mark taken by the West Coast Eagles in the Million Meal charity game on Sunday 24 July.

We proudly donated $52,000 – or 104,000 meals – to help feed West Aussie in need. Members of our workforce also volunteered at the game to take donations from the crowd.

Mineton has proudly supported the Lucy Saw Centre Association since 2014. The family and domestic violence service provider supports women and children with safe accommodation and support services.
